NEW MILESTONE
Materials and Structural Integrity: Research Preprints (MSIRP)
We are excited to announce a new milestone for our community: the activation of Materials and Structural Integrity: Research Preprints (MSIRP)! Whether you are organizing an ESIS Conference, a Technical Committee (TC) workshop, or a National Group meeting, this platform is now available to you. Upon request, we will activate a dedicated section in ESIS-PS (https://www.esis-ps.eu/) for your event, streamlining the path from abstract to published proceedings.

1. Immediate Visibility (ESIS-PS)
Authors upload their papers directly to their event’s section on the ESIS-PS platform. Each paper is issued an immediate DOI, making your research citable within days.
2. Formal Archiving (ESIS-PH)
Once the collection is complete, the entire volume is published through ESIS-PH, complete with ISBN and ISSN for formal archival and library indexing.
What About “Self-Plagiarism”?
A common concern is whether a preprint will flag your paper in anti-plagiarism software (like iThenticate) during future journal submissions.
Rest assured: it won’t.
Most major publishers recognize preprints as “non-prior publications.” By simply disclosing the preprint DOI in your cover letter, editors will exclude it from similarity reports. It is a safe, transparent bridge to your final journal publication.
Connecting to Your Final Paper
Once your paper is eventually published in a peer-reviewed journal, you don’t need to remove the preprint. Simply update your MSIRP record with the link to the final Version of Record.
The best part? Google Scholar and Crossref work behind the scenes to merge these records, ensuring that all citations earned by the preprint are funneled into your final paper, maximizing your H-index and research impact.
