NEWSLETTER #68 2022

Dear friends,
2022 was yet another difficult year! It started as a promising year to get rid of Covid 19, but the war in Ukraine took over bad news. Yet, ECF23, did go on, and turned out to be a great come back of successful events under the auspice of ESIS…

NEWSLETTER #67 2021

Dear friends, first of all, the most important news: ECF23 will be held in Funchal (Madeira, Portugal) IN PRESENCE (June 27 – July 1, 2022; www.ecf23.eu). In these last two years we were all forced to appreciate the “pleasure” of the online conferences and meetings. Sometimes, I must confess that there are some advantages in the online meetings, especially for long and boring meetings (at least, you can avoid to spend time to join the meeting…

NEWSLETTER #66 2021

Dear friends, 2020 was a really weird year! It started as a normal leap year, but… “leap year, gloomy year”! …the Covid – 19 pandemia started at the beginning of 2020, at least in Europe! The unknown development of the crisis, forced the ECF23 postponing to 2022. Now the 23rd European Conference on Fracture is scheduled in June 2022, always in Funhal, Madeira, Portugal…

NEWSLETTER #65 2020

Dear friends, first of all, some news… The first one concerns the ESIS website. Now, all the ESIS Technical Committees can directly modify their own “mini-websites” using the Google Sites platform. All the TCs have been asked to define a person in charge to handle the websites: these friends are authorized to directly upload news, reports, events photos etc., and, even, to customize the TC website structure…

NEWSLETTER #64 2019

Dear friends, we are in the odd year, the year without the ECF event, but this is not a good reason for ESIS to have a rest! Thanks to really active Technical Committees and National Groups, 2019 is full of really interesting events and I suggest you to follow the ESIS Google Calendar in order to be always update (at the end of this editorial you will find the link)…

NEWSLETTER #63 2019

Dear friends, this is my first Editorial as ESIS President and, I must confess, it was really hard for me to prepare these few lines. There are, at least, two reasons for this difficulty. First of all, I am not a “native” English writer. Yes, I am obviously able to write scientific papers, but an editorial is something different. So, please, forgive eventual mistakes…

NEWSLETTER #62 2018

This will be my last editorial as I will be stepping down as President after two, four year terms. It has been wonderful working for ESIS this last eight years. Our Technical Committees (TCs) are strong. There are five new ones and three have been reinvigorated. The National Committees (NCs) in many countries are very active with their own local activities.
